| It all began in January 2006 when I began a search to buy another horse. I had sold my last horse, a sweet paso fina, 3 years prior and thought I'd never have another horse again. Well, how many times have each one of you said and did the same thing? |

| Hands down, most
of us!!! I have had horses most of my life, beginning with a pony at age
5. It's just something that gets "down in your bones" and it never
leaves.
I began searching on the internet for my next "perfect horse". |
|||
| I thought I might once again buy a quarterhorse, I liked them, they are a well rounded horse and I started searching for one. In my quest for this "perfect horse", I came across a website with pictures from the Stallion Show in Leeuwarden Frisland. | |||
| You guessed it, "The Friesian Stallion Show" of the year! I fell in love, head over heels, stone cold in love with these horses. When I am enmeshed with something, I am on a mission to learn all there is to know and experience all there is experience! I searched hours daily to find the Friesian that I wanted to buy (and could afford) and I found Gerrit ut 'e Mieden......who was then a 4 year old stallion, soon to be gelded. I bought him in February, and imported him from Holland in March. If you have never experienced the rush of adrenaline, the elevated emotions from your first experience with a Friesian, you need to make plans to visit one! Hold on tight, they are something to behold! They have the grace, beauty, elegance and power to give you a life changing experience! For all of you who already own a Friesian, you know exactly what I am talking about!!! The Vet at the quarantine came leading Gerrit in, and I burst into tears, I had never seen anything so beautiful, so majestic, so regal in my entire life. | |||
| I through my arms around his
neck and kissed him through a tear stained face.....he probably thought
"And who are you"......but it didn't matter.......I had enough
love for the both of us, until he actually loved me too! It didn't take
long, he was very loving, attentive and gentle and very patient with me!
I couldn't leave him alone, or get enough of him....and still can't. I can't
tell you the feeling you get when you see those Black Beauty's grazing against
a green pasture. You feel as though you have died and gone to heaven! They
are called the Gentle Giants, and for the most part that is exactly what
they are! Well, needless to say, that they are like Lays Potato Chips.......One
is never enough! I have added quite a collection to my family......Yfke,
Willowe, and Afke.....with 2 foals coming for the spring! I am so very blessed
of God to be fortunate enough to experience my hearts desire and passion
first hand. I am even more blessed to have a husband and children who have
allowed me the time to "chase" my dream! Thank you for viewing
my website, I hope that you have been touched in some small way, and that
you too can experience the love of a "FRIESIAN". Warm Regards, Joellyn P.S. I must warn you.........they are addictive! |
